The list of truckers supplies can be very extensive if you're an Over The Road-Owner Operator.You not only need stuff that you can use in warm weather but in cold weather also, You will need to have stuff to keep from freezing to death if you were to breakdown or stranded in a white out, Or if you were to get stuck in an ice storm. And at the same time you will need items to make sure the truck and you don't over heat in warm weather climates.
You will need everything from Cb's,cb antennas, A radio with NOAA weather radio on it, And if you really know how to program and use a police scanner, They can really help keep those traffic tickets to a minimum.You may also need stuff like a Good Alarm Clock,TV, Refrigerator,microwave,cook plate,coffee maker, And for you food storage and preparation needs.
For the truck you might need things like tire chains,tires,tools,parts,fuses,reflectors,lights,light bulbs,Rubber glad hand gaskets. For flatbed drivers things like tarps,rubber tarp straps,load binders,load straps,chains,chain binders and strap rollers.
Dry Vans need load locks,wall straps,maybe even a retractable hand truck. And everyone needs work gloves,hand cleaner,wiper blades,windshield washer fluid,window cleaner,ice scrapper,small shovel for snow or sand removal. And even mud flaps cause you never know when one might come flying off like right before you head into a D.O.T. scale.
You may also need to get some custom log books,maps,hand held calculators,pens and even rulers to help draw a straight line with.
Of course you could get most of this stuff at a truck stop. But for the most part they are not the cheapest place in the world to buy it.But if you have internet access and online buying power, And your not in a super big hurry to get the stuff you need, You can find substantial savings that way.
