DAC Report For Truck Drivers

DAC is short for Drivers Abstract Compilation and/or Drive-A Check. The DAC Report is information complied about a drivers MVR history and their Employment history.

The first part of a DAC report is your Motor Vehicle Record which you can get from your state of residence. This contains the Moving Violations History for the previous 3 years. Most Trucking companies will not hire anyone with more than 2 moving violations with in the past 3 years. If you have 2 serious violations with in the last three years your drivers license will be suspended and you will lose your truck driving job and will not be able to drive a commercial vehicle. And now, You can no longer take defensive driving classes to keep the violation from appearing on your driving record.

The second part of the DAC report contains a drivers employment history for the 3 years previous. Information such as work history, accident history. If the accident was preventable or non preventable as well as other problems. It also contains information such as failed drug tests and what type of drug was found in the driver's system. It's very important to keep this report as clean as possible because any bad items may cause a potential employer to pass on hiring you.

You need to keep a close eye on your report so that if someone happens to put incorrect information on it, You will know right away, And then you can try to get it corrected. You can also dispute what's on your report until such time, As the information is either removed or verified by the reporting trucking company.

Here again, Is where the Federal Government has dropped the ball. Because once a company verifies the information is correct and you can not convince the company that the information is incorrect and get them to change the information, It then becomes very expensive to change. Because the company has no reason or incentive to make sure the information is correct.

In other words the company cannot be penalized for putting false information on your record. So they have a free shot at destroying your driving career for any reason they see fit. And unless you can prove they are lying, You have no other recourse and if you can prove they are not being forth right, You will have to hire an attorney and file a fraud lawsuit against them and that is cheaper.

Can you imagine this being the case in any other industry? Lol, So much for Your Rights. If you find that you do have fraudulent information on your DAC Report, You can try to get the information removed from your report using the Consumer Report Dispute Form .

If you need to contact HireRight for assistance they can be reached at 800-381-0645 or you can email them at consumers@usis.com and be sure to include your contact information so they can call you back. If you would like a free copy of your DAC Report you may obtain 1 free report every 12 month months. If you can download the USIS Consumer Report Request Form and fill out the form.

You can then send it to the following address:

to receive the free report or you can just go to HireRight Consumer and Driver Report Requests to submit your request online for the free report. If you would like to help try and change this you can sign the Petition at Stop False DAC Reporting Abuse . Remember YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A DRIVER to sign this petition!! If your spouse, family member or friend is a driver then it is in your best interest to make sure this never happens to them!

Please even if you have no close ties to any driver you should still sign this petition if only to stop this awful unjust practice from happening to your fellow Americans. All I ever hear from the Federal Government and the Trucking Companies is there is a huge truck driver shortage, well just exactly is this helping that situation?
